Lab Grown and Natural Diamond
Engagement Rings | Ready To Wear
The perfect engagement ring is out there and at Matthews Jewellers, we've been helping couples find it since 1957. Our collection of diamond engagement rings spans everything from classic oval solitaires to contemporary toi et moi styles, bezel set settings, and incredible three stone designs. Each one finished to our family's exacting standard.
Whether you're drawn to a lab grown diamond for its exceptional brilliance and value, or a natural diamond for its rarity and story, both are here, all independently certified and all available now.
Browse below, use the filters to find your diamond type, cut, and style or book a complimentary appointment with our team at either of our Newcastle boutiques: Darby Street or Westfield Kotara. If you know what you want but can't find it, our bespoke design service starts with a conversation.
About Our Engagement Ring Collection
Our engagement ring collection spans oval, round brilliant, emerald, pear, elongated cushion, marquise, old mine, moval and radiant cuts, and every ring is crafted by us to a standard we've been proud of since the day we opened our doors in 1957. We also have sapphire engagement rings for a touch of colour.
Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds; chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined stones. At Matthews, we've embraced lab grown diamonds because they allow our customers to choose a larger, higher-quality stone for their budget without any compromise on beauty or brilliance. Every lab grown diamond in our engagement ring collection is independently certified, so you always know exactly what you're buying. Browse our lab grown diamond engagement rings.
Natural Diamond Engagement Rings
For those who feel drawn to the story of a stone formed over billions of years deep within the earth, our natural diamond collection offers something irreplaceable. Our Heritage range in particular celebrates the enduring beauty of natural diamonds, with each stone carefully selected for its character, cut, and exceptional quality. Custom & Bespoke Design
Can't find exactly what you're imagining? Our bespoke design service starts with a complimentary consultation in our Darby Street or Kotara boutiques, or virtually from anywhere in Australia via video. We'll work with you to design a ring as unique as your story, backed by our Lifetime Care Guarantee on pieces of $2,000 or more.
Lab Grown vs Natural Diamonds —
Which is Right for You?
The most common question we hear. Both are real diamonds. Both are beautiful. The difference comes down to two things: origin and price.
A lab grown diamond is created in a controlled environment using advanced technology that replicates the conditions under which natural diamonds form. The result is a stone that is chemically and physically identical to a mined diamond at a significantly lower price for an equivalent size and quality. Most of our customers who choose lab grown do so because it lets them maximise their budget without compromising on the ring they want.
A natural diamond is formed deep within the earth over billions of years and carries with it a geological story that cannot be replicated. For customers who value that provenance and rarity, our natural diamond collection including our Heritage range offers exceptional stones with full GIA, IGI or HRD certification.
Both options are available in this collection. Use the filter above to browse by diamond type, read our full guide to lab grown vs natural diamonds, or speak with our team for personalised guidance.
