1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use matthewsjewellers.com or place an order with us online. The website is operated by Matthews Jewellers Pty Ltd (ABN 21 003 110 530), referred to as “we”, “us” and “our”. By placing an order, you agree to these terms and to our Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Delivery and Shipping, International Shipping, Lay-by Policy and Vouchers and Matthews Money pages.

2. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.

3. Our jewellery

  • We take care to show our jewellery accurately, but colours and finishes can look different on screen, and natural gemstones vary from stone to stone. Made-to-order pieces may differ slightly from photos and renders.
  • Every diamond we sell is described as either a lab grown diamond or a natural diamond. Where a piece comes with a certificate, it’s listed on the product page.

4. Prices and payment

  • Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless shown otherwise at checkout. International customers see prices in their local currency.
  • You can pay with the payment options shown at checkout. Afterpay and Zip are provided by those companies under their own terms, and they set any spending limits and fees.
  • If a product is listed at an obviously wrong price because of an error, we’ll contact you before processing your order. You can pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

5. Orders

Your order is accepted when we confirm it by email. We review every order before it’s dispatched and may contact you to confirm details. We may decline or cancel an order if a piece is no longer available, we can’t verify the order details, or we suspect fraud. If we do, we’ll refund anything you’ve paid in full.

6. Made-to-order and custom pieces

  • Made-to-order and custom pieces require a 50% deposit before we begin, with the balance due on completion, before the piece is dispatched or collected. For online orders, we’ll email you an invoice for the deposit.
  • The making time for each piece is shown on its product page. Our Priority service ($500) shortens the making time. Making times are estimates, and we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
  • Our $250 design (CAD) fee lets you see a CAD of your piece before committing. It’s non-refundable, and it’s credited in full towards your 50% deposit if you go ahead. Changing a standard design, such as choosing a different metal colour, costs nothing extra.
  • If you cancel a made-to-order or custom order, our Refund Policy explains what’s refunded.

7. Ring sizing

Use our Ring Sizing Guide to find your size. Rings can be resized within safe limits for each design. Complimentary resizing is included for pieces of $2,000 or more delivered within Australia, as part of our Lifetime Care Guarantee. Resized rings can’t be returned for change of mind.

8. Delivery

Delivery times, costs and options are set out on our Delivery and Shipping and International Shipping pages. Online international orders are available between $900 and $10,000 AUD. Import duties and taxes are the recipient’s responsibility.

9. Vouchers and promotions

Vouchers, Matthews Money and promotional offers have their own conditions, set out on our Vouchers and Matthews Money page and in each offer’s terms.

10. Using our website

  • The images, text and designs on our website belong to us or our licensors. Please don’t copy them for commercial use without our written permission.
  • Please don’t misuse our website, for example by attempting to interfere with it or by submitting false information.
  • If you share a review, photo or story with us, you allow us to publish it on our website and social media. We may shorten it but won’t change its meaning. We only publish genuine customer reviews.

11. Liability

Apart from your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, we’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t reasonably foreseeable when you placed your order.

12. Privacy

We handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you place your order applies to that order.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
